Aurlandsdalen wild and beautiful - Fjordcruise on Nærøyfjorden - a classic!

One of the oldest roads between eastern and western Norway passes through this valley from Hol over the Geiteryggen mountain and to Aurland. A beautiful and wild landscape rich in flora and fauna, a truly fascinating cultural heritage with magnificent nature and bizarre geological formations. The tour follows the classic route from Steibergdalen via Østerbø and Vassbygdi, ending up at Aurlandsfjord. You stay two nights in Aurland/ Flåm and visit Underdal Valley and the Nærøyfjord (on the 2005 Unesco's World Heritage List) during this time. The Fjords Geiranger and Nærøy are the first natural properties from Norway to be included in the World Heritage List. The fjords, which are among the world's longest and deepest, are the result of several ice ages. Lying between them is Jostedalsbreen, the largest glacier in mainland Europe. 
You get your luggage transported between the accommodation sites.

Day 1: Arrival  "Østerbø Fjellstove" (mountain lodge). Dinner.
Day 2: Local bus. Easy “warm-up tour” without any major challenges. Great view across Stemmerdalen valley. Accommodation: "Østerbø Fjellstove" (mountain lodge).
Day 3: Østerbø - Vassbygdi, approx. 20km / 6 hours.
This is the most spectacular and famous part of the route. We walk along Viki to the well-known Nesbøgalden valley, the original route went along treacherous pathways fastened in cracks in the local cliffs.
A wider route was blasted out of the cliffside along the Nesbø waterline in modern times.
There are two alternative routes: an easy and uncomplicated trail, or Bjønnstigen (the bear path), a more challenging and picturesque path.
On the way down to Vassbygdi you pass the small farm Almen, with houses built below a mountain block! 
Overnight accommodation at Flåmsbrygga or Fretheim Hotell.
Day 4: Daytrip in the area.
Boat to Undredal, visit Undredal Stave church and the Cheesemuseum where you can buy cheese. Visit Nærøyfjord. 
Overnight accommodation at Flåmsbrygga or Fretheim Hotell.
Day 5: Departure/ return to Østerbø Fjellstove or bus / Expressboat to Bergen or other destinations.
